there was a moment, a short period of time after her last surgery where she knew she was done, that she'd never look any different that she did on that day, she'd never erase the scars anymore than the doctors had tried. she'd never get the feeling back in her arm, the skin forever cursed to burn with no heat, flush with no cause and prickle despite the lack of healthy nerves. she felt so ugly, on the outside and the inside. she felt useless and hopeless and like there served no point in roaming the earth, a ghost of herself. she was convinced she'd forgotten to be sexy while she could be, to sleep around before she was undesirable. she moved passed it, eventually, all things will pass. eventually she learned to cut those thoughts down for what they were. however, she never found the opposite to be true. she never felt desired. desperate. hungry. ravenous. hopeful.

until now.

"i want you, landon." anya said, lips hot and aching, a boldness laced through her that she'd never known before. desire. passion. want. and god, she wanted him. more than she'd wanted anything. everything.

anya kissed him, something too bold for her sensibilities, there's nothing gentle about this kiss. starving. she'd never felt this desired before, all pretenses and fears about herself fell away as he held her like he might never let her leave his embrace. home.

she knew she should feel awkward, she had no idea what she was doing, but the way he held her told her that she had no reason to fear. "please, landon," she wasn't even sure what she was asking, just that she didn't want to have to overthink it anymore.

My Week(s) in Reviews: June 9, 2024

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (George Miller, 2024)

Disappointing. It's impossible to not compare this movie to Fury Road. The sad thing is, when you do compare this to Fury Road, every single aspect of it pales in comparison. Anya is really good, here, but just never feels like Furiosa. And Chris Hemsworth is a blast, but he goes full-ham in the most distracting way imaginable. Then there's Miller's direction, which is tedious compared to his work on Fury Road. The structure of the film is awkward, and the pacing is damn-near unbearable, draining the action set-pieces of almost all of the balls-to-the-wall adrenaline in which every single moment of Fury Road was drowning. And the cinematography is a complete bore compared to the eye-melting shots by which Fury Road was almost exclusively composed. All that being said, on its own, Furiosa is not a bad movie. Unfortunately, however, it's impossible to experience it on its own in a world where the infinitely superior Fury Road exists. - 6/10

In the Land of Saints and Sinners (Robert Lorenz, 2024)

I really like this brand of slow-burn, quietly human, small-town action-thrillers. Add in this stellar cast and that pitch-perfect climax, and this is the best of its kind I've come across in at least the past few years. - 9/10

The Beekeeper (David Ayer, 2024)

Far from good, but just action-packed enough to keep it from being a complete waste of time. - 4.5/10

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Wes Ball, 2024)

The absence of Andy Serkis felt significant. But other than that, this wasn't bad. Overlong? Definitely. But far from bad. I don't have much to say, really. The mo-cap work was fantastic, and there were some really interesting/exciting set-pieces. The cast were pretty solid straight through, with the highlights definitely being Freya Allan and Kevin Durand, who steals every second of screen-time he has. - 8/10 For Reference... My Updated Scores for the New Planet of the Apes Films: Rise: 7.5/10 Dawn: 9/10 War: 9.5/10 Kingdom: 8/10

I also revisited Peter Jackson's The Frighteners and Christopher Landon's Happy Death Day & Happy Death Day 2U. The Frighteners is every bit as amazing as it was the last time I watched it, except for how poorly the effects have aged. And the Happy Death Day movies were just as fun as they were in cinemas. I really wish we'd get more of that concept and delivery, and more of Jessica Rothe as a scream queen.

Decided to go all out with another massive attack this year. I went around the artfight website and other online places I frequent to gather characters I thought looked neat. I hope the attack looks alright because my monitor has been compressing it when ever I try to look at it outside aseprite. Scale and size might be a bit awkward in the attack because I draw most sprites in 36x36, so I'm sorry if some details look a bit strange. It was an interesting and fun challenge to draw some characters that had so many small pieces that added a lot to their design. "leanne rimes was the choice i was looking for." she shook her head and turned slightly, "we can't be friends now." she sighed, but quickly turned back to him, a goofy grin on her face. "don't get me wrong, debby boone did a brilliant job, even not technically as the first to sing it, but i mean, clearly she was the first to do so commercially, but she doesn't compare to leanne's version. though the strings? magic." she said, going a little too far into the weeds, her face much brighter as she talked music, as she didn't think of the scars. "i am the least picky person on the planet, and i love italalian food above all else. i eat take out most nights, i'm a terrible cook." she admitted. "please, cast the culinary spell on me, show me your best work, wynter." she said as she pulled out her phone. she connected to his speaker, and almost put on 'you light up my life' but if she was going to play it, there had to be a specific moment to do it. so she put on a playlist, the first song ringing out as she found somewhere to sit and watch landon as he started to cook.

The Winthrops, Round 1 Spring

It was a hectic week for this yeoman family, but also a productive one. Turns out that jars of jam are way more popular than putrid-quality honey, lol. The candles sold pretty well too.

Isidora was in charge of making the jams and candles, while Landon took care of the beehives...or tried to, at least. The bees didn't take to him very well, bless his heart. He did better at tending the produce stand.

As the eldest child, Eric spent some time learning the family business. He got along well with the bees, though he'll need to be vigilant about taking care of them if he wants to get anything better than horrifying-quality honey, lol.

Graham was responsible for fetching water from the community well, though sometimes he got distracted if there were any gnubb games going on. He did help Anya out with the gardening, though.

The only thing Sofya had to worry about was learning her toddler skills. Between all the grown-ups in the household, she learned all three!

When she and Graham aged-up at the end of the season, she developed the Supernatural Fan trait, just like her mother Isidora. Graham grew up to be a Bookworm....a very muscular bookworm.

Between the excellent profits and bonuses from business rank-ups, the Winthrops were able to make a hefty contribution to the Royal Treasury!

you are infuriating sometimes, you know that right? sorry, i think it's supposed to start out 'dear landon' or something like that. i never understood the rules set out in the world too much. forgive me if i bypass them just this moment. i'm not good with words like you are. i'm good with music. but i have tried the music thing, actually, i didn't try it. it just happened. and then i panicked. and i thought, this is so much easier than showing you something that came from my soul. not that i don't want to give you a piece of my soul, somehow i do, but i don't know how to be that vulnerable there yet.

so i am going to try to do the words thing. and i'm going to write it because god, you know how hard it is to string words into a sentence in front of you sometimes? the things you say, they are so beautiful, so poetic, sometimes i think i might pass out, collapse to the floor because my brain glitches so bad.

i don't remember what i said to you when we first met. i think it was something along the lines of 'excuse me, you're taking up all the space at the bar,' it certainly wasn't romantic or polite even, but i remember it never the less.

i'm no good with words. i am worse with conventional social manners. i'm more of a numbers girl than anything. did you know that music can be whittled down just to numbers? most people don't know that. i'm a no mess, one way street answers kind of girl. i don't like when things are confusing and conflicting ow when they make no sense. the funniest thing about that is that there hasn't been a single moment since we met that things have been no mess, one way street answers. the scariest part of all is that i find i actually like it. it's terrifying, don't get me wrong, but i like having all the lines blurred, nothing is black and white anymore and i can see things differently.

you are so honest, i think i might want to die sometimes, not that i don't appreciate the honesty, but its always about me. people have never lied to me. i'm used to that. coaches and teachers and mentors, everyone always told me when i was fucking it all up, they knew they could easily tell me because it was constructive. my parents were truthful about whether or not i could accomplish something, and then sometimes i liked to prove them wrong and accomplish it anyway. when i had my accident, the doctors didn't sugar coat anything. my parents were gone, i was eighteen and on my own, they couldn't sugar coat it. they gave me numbers, statistics, plans and risks. they didn't lie once. i could handle all of that. and then you walked in.

your honestly is so visceral. it's so blunt and poetic and sincere, and it's about me. not about my skills, not about my possibilities, not about my chances. it's about me. just me. sometimes my art, but always me, and i've never had that before. sometimes i am so embarrassed, i wish the earth could open me up and swallow me whole. not because i don't appreciate you, but because i never know what to do with it all. there's so much love behind everything you say and do and i don't know what to do with that. i've never felt that much love in the entirety of my life.

i'm no good with words, but i know feelings. i know feelings the same way i know the strings of a cello. the way i know an 'a' in every key on the piano. the way i know the difference between a viola, violin and a fiddle. my feelings for you have been nothing short of a drop off a tall cliff. my stomach is all riled up, doing somersaults like it's trying to win some gymnastic award or something. even at my darkest, i've never been happier than when by your side.

when you look at me, i feel like i am burning from the inside out, suddenly exposed. when you hold my hands, even just to comfort me, it's like two puzzle pieces coming together to fit just right. in fact, sometimes it feels like i have been a puzzle piece in the wrong box ever since my accident. i was so sure i was going into the right box, and something bumped into me and i landed somewhere else. never quite sure if i would find a place. and then you stumbled into my life and all of the sudden, i was in the right box.

this is all over the place, i am not good at words. maybe i should just show you the song. that seems like a smarter call. i think i love you. i don't know how i managed that, but i fell and i fell hard. i'll show you the damn song. and if it works out, and you think you could love me too, maybe i'll give you this.

Top 9 cuties?

Just the top nine cuties - I would’ve given you the top ten cuties currently running around the city but that’s fine. Personally, this list could go on and on and I’d love to have every single one of these adorable beings stop by for a cup of tea but without further ado here is my personal picks for the top nine cutest in no particular order. Lizzie & Josie Saltzman are two absolutely adorable creatures. Astrid is one cute person , a ginger queen of strength, so let her at the very least rank high on the cuteness scale. Now two cuties to watch,  just a few of our bad ass cuties by the way ( there are too many of them and that’s an entirely different list ) are Jess Avery and Anya Anselson. Added to this list is the saint herself - Mrs. Miranda Gilbert. She is too cute for her own good and Grayson is a lucky man - heck the whole Gilbert Family is lucky to have her. Peyton Halliwell - if ever there was a cutie pie then Peyton would absolutely be considered one and on this list. Another one of the top nine cuties roaming about is the ethereal Ms. Ophelia Belcourt. There is something about that woman that breathes beautiful not to mention she’s one of the few individuals in town who’s both wicked and divine.. Last but not least near that top of our top nine cuties is Landon Kirby. The boy is precious beyond all belief and not a lot of people realize how cute he truly is. A damaged little bean but a cute little bean. That’s our top nine cuties for now at least.
